WhatsApp is rolling out two-step verification to all of its billion-plus users, after debuting the feature in the beta version of the app last year The Verge reports. Otherwise known as two-factor authentication, this optional feature adds an extra layer of security to users’ accounts. To enable it, users need the latest version of WhatsApp and should then navigate to Settings > Account > Two-step verification > and Enable. Once this feature is turned on, users will have to enter a six-digit passcode every time they register their phone number with WhatsApp again. The Organizational Partners of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has officially announced that ‘5G’ will become the official name of the next generation of mobile connectivity technologies that would succeed today’s 4G technologies like LTE or LTE-Advanced. 3GPP have agreed that the Project’s name and logos may be made available for use by manufacturers and service providers to declare that their products are based on the Project’s specifications. Implementers wishing to declare conformity to the 3GPP specifications may mark their equipment and documentation with the 5G logo. The Partners have registered the logo (right) as a trademark for the benefit of the Membership. According to Tech Digest 3GPP has also released the official logo for the new technology standard.
Microsoft has released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15031 to developers and the main attraction is the introduction of so-called Compact Overlay windows. Techdigest reports that the new feature allows users to run a program in a small window that’s pinned above other applications, so it can be seen without being as intrusive as a standard window. Compact Overlay windows appears useful when dealing with video. For example, keeping a YouTube clip or Skype call visible in the corner would make it easier for users to do things like take notes or check email while not losing sight of the video.
