Ecommerce firm Launches a local platform to boost local manufacturers in Kenya

E-commerce company, Jumia, in a bid to promote local products across countries in Africa has launched a service platform called ‘Jumia Local’ in Kenya. This platform would help promote the salesand patronage of locally made goods by Kenyans.

Jumia management noted that they  believe manufacturing in Kenya brings great benefits to the country. They are hence seeking  to support the entrepreneurs who are investing in Kenya by clearly labelling their products, thus giving customers the chance of buying local consciously Through this program.

The local Jumia program is expected to help manufacturers navigate through the very ambiguous competition in the market and showcase their products to more people than just their immediate environment customers.

To maximize the moment, Jumia said vendors joining the program will enjoy reduced commissions and receive round-the-clock training and support from its vendor management team. Sellers can either store their products in Jumia warehouse or drop-ship once an order is made.

Products currently listed on the ‘Jumia Local’ online shop cut across Fashion, Home and Living, Electronics and consumables, Chandaria Industries tissue and hygiene products, Bantu shoes, Alladin world of Brands, Tropical Heat, Bata, Darling Hair and many more.
