The riders also expect the app to help them bring in the much needed disclipne and safety into the motorcycle industry just hours after being banned from operating in Nairobi’s CBD.

According to the National Chairman of the Association Kevin Mubadi,“From the comfort of your seat, you will be able to order a ride, get courier services and enjoy the convenience. We will structure the industry, introduce Sacco’s, financial institutions etc to change it.”

The group also aims to work with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to cover its members to help fight chronic unemployment. The group said Kenya has approximately 2 million riders some of whom are graduates, with Masters degree with others continuing their education and supporting their families back home.

The association also has a database of its members and there areas of operation for passenger safety and rider accountability. With over 800,000 members willing to use the app, the group says the on-demand marketplace will help them increase revenues and bring sanity to raods across the country just as taxi-hailing apps have done.

The group is now reaching out to restaurants and supermarkets to deliver cargo for their customers.
